The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is extending the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GBLA) regulations to automotive dealers, requiring dealerships to comply with the FTC Safeguards Rule. ProMax has remained compliant with FTC Safeguard policies since published in 2003. However, with the extension to dealers, we have added a multi-factor authentication (MFA) system setting to all platforms.
It is strongly recommended that all dealers enable multi-factor authentication before changes take effect, which is currently slated for June 2023. Additionally, regardless of MFA settings, users will be logged out after 15 minutes of inactivity.
By default, multi-factor authentication is turned off. Contact your Dealer Support Specialist or email [email protected] to have this enabled.
Prior to enabling, please ensure all users are set up to receive notifications one of two ways:
- Recommended: Using the ProMax mobile app is the easiest way to use MFA. After downloading and logging in, users can receive push notifications via the app.
- Users can also receive an SMS text to authenticate login. Your Dealer Admin needs to ensure all users have a cell phone number input within their user access profile before enabling.
