Welcome to the Employee Spotlight! Every month we focus on a ProMax team member- what they do here to help your dealership succeed AND a little about them personally as well. This month the spotlight is on Creative Director Cherri Jackson.
Describe what you do at ProMax and how it impacts our clients.
As the Creative Director, I get to be involved in our company’s creative vision, including marketing, branding, and innovation of our products and services. I feel like I am in a unique situation where the company teams I work with are as much of my “customers” as our dealers are. We work together to solve problems and hopefully make our customers' lives easier. It has been very rewarding work allowing me to develop, grow, and be a part of this great ProMax family for 21 years.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
2 things really. First, I would say working with team members to “figure out” ways to make our products better for our customers. Collaborating on product design, from concept to prototypes to development, that creative process is very rewarding. Secondly is the reward of learning and sharing that knowledge. With rapidly changing technology I get the opportunity to learn new skills every day. Whether it’s learning new coding skills, animation, or UI/UX, it’s challenging and rewarding.
What do you enjoy doing most outside of work?
Spending time with family. It becomes more precious as your kids become adults. Other than that, I love doing anything art related, reading, and watching crime shows with my husband.
What is your favorite line from a movie?
I don’t really have one. I feel like I should say “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn”. That sounds like something I can relate to. I’m smiling…
If you could learn to do anything new, what would it be?
Too many things I could list here. I’ve always wanted to learn to play the violin.
What are 3 words you’d use to describe working at ProMax?
Interesting, encouraging, family.
Who would play you in a movie about your life, and what would the title of the movie be?
Uma Thurman, not “Kill Bill” but maybe “The Sleigher” or something that sounds kickass like that. I’m quiet, but you always have to watch out for the quiet ones.
At what age did you become an adult, and how did you know it happened?
I would probably say when I was 25, when I had my daughter. That shift from being self-centered to the responsibility of caring for the most important little person in your life is life-changing.
What 3 traits define you?
Caring, conscientious, and creative. (Do I get extra points for using all C words?)
What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?
Surround yourself with people who believe in and inspire in you.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.
Sorry, nothing really surprising about me. I am going to be a first-time grandma in July. That‘s new and exciting for me.
What advice would you give to recent new hires?
Ask questions and always keep learning.
What does true leadership mean to you?
Well, I could list all of the things that most people would say, but I think being positive and sharing that enthusiasm has to be at the top of that list. Also, having empathy and listening to others is important to stay humble and relatable. I am proud to say we have several great leaders in our company.
What inspires you?
People who are selfless and lift others
If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?
Healing. Is that a superpower? I’m not sure, but being able to heal people would be amazing.
What are you looking forward to most this year?
Vacation – traveling.
Thanks Cherri!
