Welcome to the Employee Spotlight! Every month we focus on a ProMax team member- what they do here to help your dealership succeed AND a little about them personally as well. This month the spotlight is on Todd Hester who works in Financial Data Support and just celebrated his 18th work anniversary here!!
Describe what you do at ProMax and how it impact our clients.
I work in the Financial Data Support Department. I am responsible for updating the Lender Presets. This enables our clients to desk deals with ProMax insuring they will receive the correct number on deals.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Not hearing my phone ring. Lol, what I mean is our clients are satisfied and are not having any issues with their presets. Really though, when you do receive a call it's nice when you hear that 'thank you' and 'you really helped me with my problem as to why my deals were not working'.
What do you enjoy doing most outside of work?
When I am not on my crutches, I enjoy sports, mostly tennis. This pandemic has halted my ability to entertain; I enjoy cooking for family and friends, and I am actively involved with my volunteer work.
What is your favorite line from a movie?
“You're killing me, Smalls!” from The Sandlot.
If you could learn to do anything new, what would it be?
Well… I am doing it now, learning Spanish. My intention in learning is to become an interpreter. Currently Duolingo is my best friend.
What are 3 words you’d use to describe working at ProMax?
Family, innovating, successful.
Who would play you in a movie about your life, and what would the title of the movie be?
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, since we have the same body build…lol (he would be my stunt double) and the movie title would be “Quiet Danger”.
At what age did you become an adult, and how did you know it happened?
Honestly, I would say 22, because I took a big leap in my life by moving to upstate New York. I lived there for 8 years and had to return for family obligations.
What 3 traits define you?
This is difficult to answer, I would say…my patience, my attentiveness to people, and I'm very balanced.
What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?
Take the red pill and not the blue one... okay I have a love for movies. So, I would have stayed in Drama Club. I could be a box office star by now.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.
I am super shy; it takes a lot for me to be outgoing and conversational. When I do though I don't stop talking.
What advice would you give to recent new hires?
Become a sponge and soak up whatever knowledge and skills you can, and do not be afraid to ask questions learning how the entire process works at ProMax.
What does true leadership mean to you?
Hoping this makes sense, I love to read and write poetry there are two quotes I have always appreciated: one is by Warren Bennis, he said “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality”. When I read that I thought about the transformation with ProMax and what we have become- it is truly awesome and amazing. The second one is from Max DePree: he said “The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you. In between, the leader is a servant; he doesn’t need a title”.
What inspires you?
My relationship with God. Hope in His promises has kept me grounded and focused.
If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?
Teleportation (I could jump and see all the wonders of the world).
What are you looking forward to most this year?
I have a long bucket list lol, first I have a “temporary” reservation to eat at Hell’s Kitchen in Las Vegas, and I am willing to spend $106 on the Gordon Ramsey Burger, no sides LOL.
