Welcome to the Employee Spotlight! Every month we focus on one ProMax team member- what they do here to help your dealership succeed AND a little about them personally as well. This month the spotlight is on Digital Operations Manager Kyle Maxson!
Kyle, describe what you do at ProMax and how it impacts our clients.
I oversee the daily operation of company’s digital division which includes a variety of front-end website and plug-in products which are built to drive traffic and maximize leads to dealers via their online retailing experience. I have a comprehensive knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Responsive Design, Google Analytics, Adwords, and Webmaster Toolkit. My experience, understanding, and unique ability to work as a technical liaison between departments enables me to think outside the box to further new and existing product developments as well as deliver distinctive solutions to our web clients- often individual issues on-the-fly. I work closely with my team to ensure an unrivaled customer support experience to ensure dealers get the most out of our products and services.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Being an integral part of a team that continuously brings new features to life and also helping to make our dealers' support and services evolve into something better day-in and day-out is especially rewarding to me.
What do you enjoy doing most outside of work?
Spending time with family and being active. Whether it's being a legitimate ski bum in the winter, working on updating my house, playing soccer, brewing beer, gardening, camping, mountain biking, or hiking mountains. If it's outdoors, you'll likely find me doing it! Though video games are still a big pull for me too.
What is your favorite line from a movie?
"The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist" from The Usual Suspects.
If you could learn to do anything new, what would it be?
I'm always up for learning a new skill; I'm currently finishing up my home bar build project!
What are 3 words you’d use to describe working at ProMax?
Challenging, innovative and rewarding
Who would play you in a movie about your life, and what would the title of the movie be?
I guess it would have to be David Duchovny, only because I have been approached a crazy number of times by strangers pointing out I look like him, but I still don't see it?! The title would be "For Love of the Game."
At what age did you become an adult, and how did you know it happened?
When I unexpectedly lost my father while still attending college. It was a shock to the system when I was still very much learning who I was and what I wanted. It redefined my outlook on life and how fragile it really is.
What 3 traits define you?
My determination, adventurousness, and optimism
What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?
Stop worrying about what other people think; there’s never going to be a better time to do something than in the present. Oh and make sure to invest in a little company called Google!
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.
I can touch my nose with my tongue.
What advice would you give to recent new hires?
Don't be afraid to ask questions! There are a great number of people who've worked here for 10, 15, 20+ years that have an EXTREMELY in-depth level of knowledge and understanding, and most importantly, the willingness to help people out in our company. We offer so many incredible services it's hard to know everything about everything and I continually find it refreshing knowing that I can pop in and ask someone for assistance that knows the ins and outs of a particular feature or service. And the fact they are willing to help at the drop of a hat, as I would gladly do the same for anyone here, is invaluable to your growth and understanding of our company.
What does true leadership mean to you?
I believe in a transformational leader. Which is someone who inspires positive changes in those who follow them. Someone who is generally energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about what they are doing and believe in. This type of leader isn't only concerned and involved in the process itself, but they also focus on helping every member of the group succeed as well. That is something I strive for every day.
If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?
I'd have to go with Teleportation, taking a cue from the movie Jumper would certainly help aid my need to travel and explore the world just a bit easier. I mean c'mon, lunch break in Paris, sure why not?
What are you looking forward to most this year?
Personally, I am already looking forward to my next Fourteener peak bagging attempt in Colorado this summer. Professionally I am excited to see all the new features come to life we have mapped out for 2021. I believe we have a great team and an incredible vision that our dealers will continue to benefit from.
Thanks Kyle. We couldn't agree more!
