Updated Instant Messenger
In order to address an ongoing issue with ProMax Instant Messenger that was causing ProMax to crash, we have updated to a new Instant Message text editor. The new editor has very similar functionality and is nearly the same cosmetically, but it will not cause ProMax to randomly crash.
This problem was isolated to certain Windows Security Updates, and despite affecting a large number of software users, Microsoft has not yet released a sufficient solution to the problem. The workaround of removing certain Windows updates was becoming too cumbersome for our customers, so we have proactively addressed the problem.

IMPORTANT NOTE: For users to message one another via the new Instant Messenger, they will have to update to the newest version of ProMax. This is done automatically by logging in to ProMax.
New 'Set Password' Feature
We're continuing to improve the security of your passwords in ProMax. As you may have seen in our last blog post, all passwords now respect case sensitivity and cannot match other users' passwords at your dealership.
This week we're adding an easier way to set your password in ProMax, with a new 'Set Password' button in Admin User Access:
When you select 'Set Password' you will be prompted to type your New Password and then retype it to confirm.
The button just to the left of 'Set Password', labelled 'Reset User Account', mimics the functionality of the 'Password' hyperlink that was previously here. Selecting 'Reset User Account' will trigger the same popup the 'Password' hyperlink used to:
Other Changes & Fixes
- We made some enhancements to the CB Analysis Report to make it run faster and improve the handling of merged customers. [Items 211975]
- We improved the Prospects Filter/Sort "Call Back" filter to always look for the 'best' call back. [Item 213720]
- We've added a warning message popup for when a user attempts to deactivate an email account used for Lead Delivery. [Item 215203]
- To ensure that closing ratios on the Internet Dashboard are accurate we will now prevent the Lead Sources "GM: Service", "GM: Parts", and "GM: Body Shop" from appearing there. [Item 134142]
- We added two new variables to the Inventory Report Builder: "BlackBook Retail (Clean) - ACV" and "BlackBook Retail (Clean) - Cost". [Item 212456]
- In ProMax Mobile we added the Showroom Visit sub-menu when adding a New Customer, eliminating the need for the 'Visit Type' dropdown menu. [Item 214029]
- We updated the Guest Information/Trade Appraisal Sheet to correctly mark the selected equipment on trade ins. [Item 85040]
- We fixed a bug that prevented users from sending multiple emails from the Daily Workplan when no printer is set up. [Item 211295]
- We updated both the Lead Management Report and the BDC & Sales Management Report to eliminate duplicate customers from being listed. [Items 198583 & 212424]
- We added new Forms variables for Aftermarket expiration dates. [Items 192913]
- We resolved an inconsistency for users who had checked both "Access Only My Prospects/Customers" and "Access Only My Team's Prospects/Customers" in Admin User Access. [Item 84558]
- We updated the "Last Contact" field so that it will reflect local time in all instances. [Item 82904]
- We addressed an issue that was sometimes causing ProMax to crash when submitting deals to Reynolds & Reynolds. [Item 212241]
- We fixed a timeout error that happened sometimes on the "Add Vehicles to Needed Inventory List" screen. [Item 214637]
